WHY SHOULD I DONATE MY CLOTHING TO FATHER JOE'S VILLAGES (FJV)?
As Southern California's largest residential homeless services provider, Father Joe's Villages brings positive change to the lives of your neighbors in need. The organization is an industry thought-leader, offering innovative solutions to address the complex needs of the homeless, regardless of age, race, culture or beliefs. Father Joe's Villages' primary goal is to transform lives and end the cycle of homelessness. To this end they provide food, clothing, housing, healthcare, education, job training and child development in an internationally modeled "one-stop-shop" approach.

WHERE WILL MY DONATED CLOTHES GO?
A generous portion of donated clothing will be designated for the homeless individuals living at one of the Village locations. Residents who comply with program regulations receive vouchers for clothing. Additionally. those residents participating in the Career and Education program are eligible to receive professional attire through our "Dress for Success" program. The clothing received that is not provided to FJV clients is reviewed by the retail store managers for possible sale at one of the FJV retails stores (location info here). Clothes that cannot be sold in retail stores (damaged items) are baled and sold in bulk.

HOW MUCH OF FJV'S FUNDING COMES FROM DONATIONS OF CLOTHING AND USED GOODS?
A full third of Father Joe's Villages' annual operating budget is comprised of revenue from the resale of clothing and used goods. To that end, your donations will make an important contribution to support the daily operations of the organization.

IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes, you can write off fair market value of your donation.

WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHING SHOULD I DONATE?
Father Joe's Villages happily accepts most types of gently used clothing. Professional attire that can be utilized by the individuals in our "Dress for Success" program is especially welcomed. No used undergarments, please.

WHERE DO YOU SELL THE CLOTHING AND USED GOODS YOU RECEIVE?
Father Joe's Villages has three retail outlets, two auction sites, and online retail stores as well. Details on locations can be found here.

DO YOU EMPLOY A BROKER OR MIDDLEMAN FOR ANY OF YOUR RETAIL TRANSACTIONS?
No. Father Joe's Villages never employs a middleman for the processing or sale of donations. This means that more of your donation's worth goes to help your neighbors in need.

DO YOU TAKE OTHER THINGS?
